Scaling Micro Businesses Through Operational Excellence

Learn and Discover How to Grow Your Micro Enterprise

Introduction

I became bankrupt from starting a micro business. Growing a micro business is my happiest hobby.
After over 14 years of professional career in Accounting and Finance management and having worked with the best corporates and international NGOs in Kenya like Aga Khan Hospital, and Elizabeth Glacier Pediatric Aids Foundation, I decided to quit and start my own business.

Five years into that daring adventure, I never thought how a grocery business person would seem to become my only employer. The following five years saw me lost everything through losses and auctioneers recovering loans that I was servicing when I was employed. I lost all my corporate networks and found myself building networks from the most fragmented economy- Trolley carriers, Matatu stage people, and others.

During the same five years I started and ran over Four businesses which include Matatu management Sacco- twice, Taxi services, groceries for delivery. At the bottom of it only a plate of super mattered and bus fare. On the other hand, there is something very special that happened to me during that same period. I learned a lot about why a grocery business remains afloat whereas many other big businesses went under and exited. I also learned why many micro businesses remained one-man businesses and stagnated for years whereas other few once grew and joined the great league of SME

I learned the art of learning and discovering how to grow your micro business. Many microbusinesses have led owners into depression, lifestyle diseases, and uncontrollable uncertainties due to the effort they have put into trying to save those businesses for years.
From borrowing business money from Shylocks, unstable business environments, customer competition. Micro businesses basically are run on totally unreliable system to guarantee growth and sustainability.
Owners of the said businesses live to be the only pillar through their blood until they get old beyond the inability to work and their businesses die at that. Again I learned that every business is scalable if only owners are ready to learn and discover how to scale their micro-enterprises.

All micro-businesses are small businesses. The only difference is a micro-business is a subset of the small business community based on the number of employees within the company
Most micro-businesses have fewer than six people have low startup costs, are under $50,000, and most likely don’t require any business loans. Small businesses usually have around five employees and can also have as many as five hundred employees. A side hustle is a micro-business that you run on the side because you have a full-time job or are a student.
